About us

The National Centre for Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice was established within the Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences at AUT in 2009 and officially opened by the Minister of Health, Tony Ryall. It provides a vehicle for developing education, practice, research and hauora Māori by bringing collaboration to the forefront of health professional education.

Our mission

The NCIPECP promotes culturally responsive interprofessional practice through leading, facilitating, promoting and supporting person and whanau-centred collaborative practice, interprofessional education and research to improve health and social outcomes for all New Zealanders.

Our aims

The NCIPECP provides a national forum, which aims to:

  1. Provide the leadership, evidence and resources necessary in the use of interprofessional education and collaborative practice as a way to improve the experience and outcomes of healthcare for all New Zealanders
  2. Provide a network for the sharing of interprofessional education and collaborative practice initiatives and research to support those in the delivery of education and healthcare practice
  3. Initiate and support interprofessional research, education and practice innovations across, among and between health and education sectors
  4. Transform healthcare education and practice through creating genuinely connected learning and care systems.

This will be achieved through promoting, developing and sustaining collaborative relationships between tertiary education and healthcare providers, community and professional groups
